  3. How to Grant Permissions for Social Media Account Management

As a business or organization, you may choose to work with a media agency to manage your social media accounts. To do so, you'll need to grant the agency the necessary permissions to access and manage your accounts on various social media platforms. In this article, we'll walk you through the process of granting permissions on the following platforms: Mastodon, Reddit, LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and Twitter.

Mastodon:

Mastodon does not have a built-in feature for granting account access to other users or agencies. To provide access, you will need to share your login credentials (username and password) with the media agency. We recommend creating a separate account specifically for this purpose and using a secure method to share credentials.

Reddit:

  1. Log in to your Reddit account.
  2. Go to "User Settings" and select the "Safety & Privacy" tab.
  3. Scroll down to "Manage Third-Party App Authorization" and click "Add App."
  4. Enter the name of the media agency's app and grant the necessary permissions.
  5. Click "Add App" to save the changes.

LinkedIn:

  1. Log in to your LinkedIn Company Page.
  2. Click on "Admin Tools" and select "Page Admins."
  3. Click on the "Manage Admins" tab.
  4. Type the name or email address of the media agency representative you want to add as an admin.
  5. Select the appropriate role (e.g., Designated Admin, Content Admin) and click "Save."

Instagram:

  1. Log in to your Instagram account.
  2. Go to your profile and tap on the three horizontal lines (menu) in the top right corner.
  3. Tap "Settings," then "Business," and then "Branded Content."
  4. Tap "Approved Accounts" and search for the media agency's account.
  5. Tap "Approve" next to the agency's account.

Facebook:

  1. Log in to your Facebook Business Page.
  2. Click on "Settings" in the top right corner.
  3. Select "Page Roles" in the left-hand menu.
  4. Under "Assign a New Page Role," type the name or email address of the media agency representative.
  5. Select the appropriate role (e.g., Admin, Editor) and click "Add."

TikTok:

  1. Log in to your TikTok account.
  2. Go to "Settings and Privacy" and select "Business Suite."
  3. Tap "Ad Account Roles" and then "Add New User."
  4. Enter the media agency representative's TikTok username or email address.
  5. Select the appropriate role (e.g., Admin, Advertiser) and tap "Confirm."

Twitter:

  1. Log in to your Twitter account.
  2. Go to "Settings and Privacy" and select "Privacy and Safety."
  3. Scroll down to "Your Twitter Data" and click "Access."
  4. Under "Third-party access," click "Add Access" and enter the media agency's app name.
  5. Grant the necessary permissions and click "Add Access."

Please note that the steps outlined above may have changed. Social media platforms may update their interfaces and features over time, so we recommend checking the official help centers of each platform for the most up-to-date instructions.
